Arsenal still have chance to land dream duo as Chelsea 'not close' to signing top target

Image
Arsenal still have the opportunity to build Mikel Arteta’s dream midfield this summer by acquiring the services of Moises Caicedo from Brighton. The Ecuador international looked destined to join Chelsea this summer, though negotiations are ‘not close’ with the Stamford Bridge outfit. Following their impressive 2022/23 campaign, Arteta made it clear that he wanted to continue strengthening his squad in order to close the gap on Manchester City. The Spaniard prioritised a rebuild in midfield – allowing Granit Xhaka to leave and putting several players in the shop window. Thomas Partey is among those who could depart, with Saudi clubs circling in hope of landing the Ghana international. Thus, Arsenal could add another top-quality player to their midfield ranks – with Caicedo still admired. Earlier this summer, Arteta intended on signing both the Brighton star and  Declan Rice  but the finances involved became a deterrent and they prioritised the latter, who recently arrived for £105milli

Arsenal have put pressure on Liverpool to speed up their move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. The Gunners could step up their own interest in the player following developments on Thomas Partey's future Lavia impressed in his first season at Southampton after joining from Manchester City last summer. He was a shining light in an otherwise dismal campaign for Saints, who were relegated to the Championship after finishing rock bottom. The 19-year-old's performances have seen him linked with a move to a host of top clubs. Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and former club City are all admirers of the Belgian. Arsenal have just signed Declan Rice for a club-record fee of £105million. Chelsea, meanwhile, are hoping to secure a deal for Brighton star Moises Caicedo. Liverpool have already brought in two midfielders this summer, signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. However, Fabinho looks set to move to the Saudi Pro League, while captain Jordan Henderson could follow h

Arsene Wenger says Arsenal will win Premier League - and backs £105m Declan Rice price

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes his old club will win the coming Premier League campaign after winning the race for Declan Rice. The Gunners broke their transfer record to sign Rice from West Ham for an initial £100million, with another £5m to potentially follow in add-ons. It makes the England midfielder just the eighth footballer to be bought for nine figures, representing a fresh departure from Arsenal's former spending habits. But Wenger - who ended his 22-year spell at the club in 2018 - thinks Rice is still a valuable signing at that price and is expecting his signature won't take long to start paying off. "I think it is a good investment," he told Eurosport while attending the Tour de France. "Overall, personally I think they have made good buys as they are players who are now mature, 23, 24, and still young so can stay together for a few years. YOU DESERVE IT’: PLAYER MIKEL ARTETA LET GO REACTS TO ARSENAL SIGNING DECLAN RICE

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has told Declan Rice that he ‘deserves’ his transfer to Arsenal following his club-record move from West Ham United. The Arsenal fans had to wait a while, but Declan Rice is now their player after £105 million was put on the table for his signature, as reported by Sky Sports. Whilst Rice enters the door, the man who has just left, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, has just ended his long stay with the club after his contract expired and he had nothing but kind words to say about the former Hammers captain on Instagram.  Whilst Maitland-Niles, who was on-loan at Southampton last season, is no longer associated with Arsenal, it’s pretty obvious that he will still follow how his former club fair in their quest to win the Premier League title again. The Hale-End academy product won the FA Cup during his time at the Emirates, but it’s becoming champions of England which the fans crave the most.
