Arsenal would be making the wrong decision by signing Kai Havertz instead of a recognised centre-forward, according to Ray Parlour.

Havertz has emerged as a serious target for Arsenal after the three seasons he has spent with Chelsea. There have been questions about the role he has been used in by various managers at Stamford Bridge.

In his earlier spell with Bayer Leverkusen, Havertz flourished as more of an attacking midfielder than a focal point up front.

Arsenal, in contrast, finished as runners up in the Premier League this season and will be back in the Champions League next term.

So for me, I don’t think that would be the right signing. But obviously Edu and Mikel Arteta will be talking behind the scenes and saying, ‘look, he can play there, he can play there’ and there might be a player for them.
