The 23-year-old is technically a free agent after his contract at the Emirates expired on June 30, however he is understood to have agreed an extended four-year contract.
Football Transfers reported over the weekend that Newcastle had touched base with Nelson’s representatives to ask about his situation.
He is, however, prepared to stay in North London, despite not starting a single Premier League match last season. In total, he made 11 appearances and scored three goals.
Nelson, who is close friends with Magpies midfielder Joe Willock, came through the academy at Arsenal before making his senior debut in 2017.
